In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Caspar Craven

Caspar Craven is an adventurer and entrepreneur. He's sailed twice around the world and has built multiple successful businesses from scratch. He is passionate about helping people build winning teams and working better together.

Chris Gallagher

Chris was once a headteacher of a primary school and now trains teachers and supports school delivering exciting and creative maths training. Chris is a Maths Specialist teacher and works closely with NCETM (National Centre for the Excellence in the Teaching of Maths) as a Teaching for Mastery lead. As well as running his own business, Solve - Education he also works for other training providers nationally including Oxford University Press delivering Maths mastery training. Chris is passionate about promoting creative approaches to Maths teaching & learning and increasing confidence in adults and children. "Maths is a rich, diverse and beautiful subject which needs to be celebrated."

Harry Kay

Some adults think that all young people are just interested in modern technology for gaming, messaging and social media. I am a young person, and I am concerned about what lies beneath the surface of the manufacturing process.

James Dempster

James is a digital marketing professional with a passion for history. Having studied Archaeology at University, James now runs a Digital Marketing agency in Brighton and focuses his time on supporting businesses that make a difference to the world we live in. Living in Shoreham with his wife and two young children, James enjoys exploring the South Downs, trying the new restaurants Brighton has to offer and visiting local historical attractions.

Nick Crown

Nick Crown has been a full time Magician and Mind Reader for over 18 years. He has a wealth of knowledge about the art of magic and mentalism. Having started out selling magic tricks in Harrods and Hamleys and working for himself selling tricks from his car boot, Nick now makes his living entertaining at some of the world's highest profile events.

Olivia Vandyk

Olivia Vandyk has been at the coalface of web 2.0 for over a decade both as community manager, and now social media specialist. As a consultant, copywriter and author, she helps businesses find their voice online and over the years has worked with the great, the good and indeed Piers Morgan.

Pat Higgins

Born during a particularly tense game of Scrabble between his parents in 1974, Pat spent his early life roaming the streets of Essex imaging that vampires and werewolves lay around every corner. When they refused to materialise, he wrote about them instead. Since then he has forged a successful career as a horror screenwriter and director, with credits on eight features. He also lectures on screenwriting and idea generation at colleges and universities teaching the next generation to be better at what he does than he is and thus ensuring his own eventual irrelevance - he has seen the movie 'Gremlins' more than 80 times.

Sophie Lomas

I am a schoolgirl, aged 11, currently in year 7 at New Hall School. I am here because I won a competition at St Cedd's School while I was in year 6. I enjoy art and photography.

Teigh-Anne Shave

Writer, Artist, Campaigner and Laughter Facilitator. Previously Tracy Shave, creating projects and campaigns exploring issues surrounding mental health and disadvantaged groups. She's been homeless, a single parent, recovered from mental illness and has a son with special needs. Determined to challenge stigma her projects reflect ideas she was curious to try on a quest to explore recovery, prevention and joy. Qualifying as a laughter facilitator in 2010 led to the Share a Smile campaign, Giggle Together workshops, stand up comedy and meditation. She became Teigh-Anne in 2016 as a symbol of her ongoing metamorphosis - time to remove the 'racy'.

Vinette Hoffman-Jackson

International speaker, author, teacher, professional storyteller. She is the author of the book 'Did the Right Sperm Win?' a collection of inspirational short stories. She is also a columnist in local magazines and a past National Newspaper correspondent. Vinette has been a teacher for the past 25 years and a School Governor. Vinette is the Managing Director for 'The Transition Zone' and regularly does workshops, seminars, and keynotes nationally and internationally.

Will Polston

Will is a born and bred Chelmsfordian. He spends the majority of his time devoted to the purpose of his talk in between playing ice hockey, rugby and attempting challenges like climbing mountains, riding unicycles and learning to back flip.
