The students of the American Community School of Amman are motivated, globally aware, intuitive and extremely open-minded. This is ACS Amman's first ever TEDx Youth Event and its theme is based on the TEDx Youth Weekend 2016 theme, "What Now?". This theme is centered bringing out new ideas and exploring endless possibilities. It fuels our Youth speakers to inspire others with their unique thoughts and spread ideas worth spreading.

Abigail Eid

Student
Abigail is a freshman at ACS. Her talk will discuss her self-conducted research of Teenage Happiness. Why do teenagers feel happy, or why do they feel sad? Abigail will give us a reality check, exposing the truth she discovered behind her research at ACS.

Fuad Samhouri

Student
Fuad is a sophomore at ACS. His talk will delve into the problems of the Middle East and how it can retrieve itself from its current situation. With his knowledge of the "Golden Age", he gives us his ideas for the future, a future filled with new forms of education, discussion etc. in order to get the Middle East out of its dark ages.

Gigi Fitiany

Student
Gigi is a sophomore at ACS. In collaboration with Nour, they will be discussing their reasons for returning to Jordan after university abroad, "Why I'll come back". It sparks many questions as to why students don't return to their home country of Jordan. They discuss economic benefit, progression and hopefully a new future for Jordan that come along with the returning of students post- university.

Hala Sandouqa

Student
Hala is a junior at ACS. She will be performing a poem dedicated to her father, who's mosque was attacked in the state of Texas. Her passionate and heartfelt stanzas explain her confusion, her grief and her anger towards the idea of judging based on religion.

Kenz Assaf

Student
Kenz is a junior at ACS. In collaboration with Mona, they will both share how effective travel is when it comes to altering perspective. Traveling to Vietnam, India and many other places, they give us insight on the false expectations they had going in, and the completely altered perspective they had coming out.

Leen Almawajdeh

Student
Leen is a junior at ACS. Her topic for "What Now?" is the struggle of girls and women to find female role models in science. Leen discusses her intense school experience with exploring her scientific abilities which open up the question of significant women in science. She hopes to become a marine biologist one day and explores the ways in which women, like herself, can achieve this dream.

Marwan Abdelhamid

Student
Marwan in a junior at ACS Amman. He is going to deliver a slam poem about a topic that burns inside of him, cultural denial. He is driven, passionate and motivated when it comes to the love for his country of Palestine.

Mona Dabbas

Student
Mona is a junior at ACS. In collaboration with Kenz, they will both share how effective travel is when it comes to altering perspective. Oscar Turner

Student
Oscar is a freshman at ACS. His talk will discuss the possibility of building the perfect human through genetic modification. Can we have perfect babies? Can humans have no flaws? He discusses with possibility while taking into account the positives and the negatives of the endeavor.

Salma Al Khalidi

Student
Salma is a junior at ACS. She will be giving a speech about activism and its stigmas. She delves into her story and why she is decided to become an activist, through high school experiences and how they make her angry enough to speak.

Tamara Turki

Student
Tamara is a junior at ACS. Her talk will be about her experience with discovering empathy in her global community while explaining the social psychology of in groups and out groups.
