Theme: Shifting Perceptions

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Larissa Pak

Human Landscape Explorer, TEDx Ambassador

Larissa Pak has empirically studies the “crisis of 30s” by quitting her successful banking career to travel the world. During her one year of travels she interviewed 30 individuals who have challenged the status quo and chosen to live a life with purpose. Larissa is a long –time TEDx organizer and a TEDx ambassador. She has 20 years of professional experience in strategic communications and community projects.

Sajjad is the co-founder of AlemHealth – a diagnostic telemedicine startup for emerging markets. AlemHealth has been operating across Afghanistan and several countries in Africa. Its hardware/software solution brings access to high quality care to billions of patients living in developing countries. Sajjad is also a member of the TEDx global community as organizer of TEDxAiAin

Sarah Amiri

Space Innovator ( Emirates Mars Mission)

Sarah Amiri is currently the Deputy Project Manager and Science Lead of the Emirates Mars Mission (Hope) at the Mohamed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC). Her current task is to enable the research environment for the first generation of UAE Planetary Scientists. In 2015 Sarah was selected as one of 50 young scientists by the World Economic Forum for her contribution to the development efforts in the fields of Science, Technology and Engineering.

Usman Riaz

Founder of Mano Animation Studio - TED Senior Fellow

Artist, Director and Composer Usman Riaz is the youngest TED Senior Fellow and the founder of Mano Animation Studio - the first hand drawn animation studio in Pakistan. “The Glassworker” is Usman’s first directorial debut and it has been funded by a kickstarter campaign. Usman is laying the foundations for the first animation industry in his home country by "laying the foundation for artists in Pakistan to come and work on beautiful works of art that they can be proud of."
