Karkala. Born and brought up in a village like Belvai, this had a great influence in his life .
Having spent most of his free time during childhood days roaming in the paddy fields and
secondary forests near his home, observing birds, searching for their nests, catching fishes in
streams and rivers, he enjoyed almost all living creature that he came across, whether an
arthropod or a mollusc or an annelid.
His special interest for butterflies grew when he was allotted a project on “Study of local

Sriram Rajagopal Ramaswamy is the Fellow of Royal Society(FRS), Director of the Tata Institute of
Fundamental Research (TIFR)Centre for Interdisciplinary Sciences in Hyderabad, and a Professor at
the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
He is widely known for formulating the hydrodynamic equations governing the alignment, flow,
mechanics and statistical properties of suspensions of self-propelled creatures, on scales from a cell
to the ocean.

Tim specializes in geometry, graphics, algorithm design, human-computer interaction, medical imaging, patent writing and singularity theory.[4] His books on catastrophe theory and on differential geometry and relativity are still in print after a third of a century.
