Ingénieur forestier de formation, Jean-François a découvert le Fenua lors de son Volontariat à l'Aide Technique (VAT) entre 1998 et 2000. Basé aux îles Marquises, le projet consistait à réaliser un état des lieux des populations de bois de santal et à mettre au point une technique permettant de le multiplier afin d'en réaliser des plantations. Après un court séjour en métropole au sein de l'Office National des Forêts en Normandie, il s'installe à Tahiti en 2001 où il exerce 4 années au département forestier du Service du Développement Rural. Il passe une thèse de doctorat de chimie moléculaire à l'Université de Polynésie Française qu'il soutient en 2006 ; thèse portant sur la variabilité chimique, génétique et morphologique du bois de santal polynésien. Il est également l'auteur du Guide des Arbres de Polynésie française publié localement en 2008. Depuis 2005, il exerce l'activité de consultant en foresterie et botanique polynésienne dans tous les archipels polynésiens.

Kara is a Senior Advisor for Whaitua relationships at Wellington Water. Prior to joining Wellington Water, Kara worked as a Policy Analyst for Horizons Regional Council. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Arts and a Master's degree in Planning from University of Otago and has a background in natural resource management, Treaty of Waitangi settlements and is a current trustee for his iwi (tribe) Te Atiawa – Taranaki Whānui. Kara has co-authored an article “Towards integrating Indigenous culture in urban form” which has been recently published in the Spatial Justice Journal.

Pauline is a young woman specialized in sustainable development who grew up between Mo'orea and Tahiti. She has a Bachelor's degree in Environment (majoring in Environmental Economics) from McGill University (Canada). She consolidated her knowledge in eco-conception by studying permaculture and the creation of eco-villages in different parts of the globe. Pauline believes that a sustainable future is built by changing mindsets, which is why her work hinges on collaborating with local communities in order to find tailored solutions to improve their daily lives, their environment and respect their traditions. She is the manager of the “éco-sentinelle Hei Mata’ara” project led by the Te Ora Naho federation. To balance her active life, Pauline has been dancing and teaching ‘ori tahiti for many years now.
