Carmella Cucuzzella

Associate Professor in the Design and Computation Arts department and is holder of the Concordia University Research Chair in Integrated Design, Ecology and Sustainability for the Built Environment

Dr. Carmela Cucuzzella, is an Associate Professor in the Design and Computation Arts department and is holder of the Concordia University Research Chair in Integrated Design, Ecology and Sustainability for the Built Environment (ideas-be.ca). Her research work is framed within the broad domain of design studies where she investigates questions of sustainable design for urban living. She has contributed, along with 20 international experts, to the “Guidelines for Social Life Cycle Assessment of Products and Services (2009)” for the Life Cycle Initiative of the UNEP (United Nations Environmental Program) and the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry. With Jean-Pierre Chupin, she co-edited Architecture Competitions and the Production of Culture, Quality and Knowledge: An International Inquiry (Montreal, 2015).

Luis Rodrigues

Professor Department of Electrical Engineering at Concordia University, Concordia Institute of Aerospace Design and Innovation

Dr. Rodrigues is a Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering of Concordia University and at the Concordia Institute of Aerospace Design & Innovation. He received his PhD from the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics of Stanford University in June 2002. During the last two years of his PhD research, Dr. Rodrigues worked as a visiting student at the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics of MIT. He received his Masters and his “licenciatura” degrees from the Technical University of Lisboa, Portugal. Prior to joining Concordia, Dr. Rodrigues worked as a consultant for speech recognition at Eliza Corporation, USA, and as a project manager for flight simulation applications at Ydreams, Portugal. Dr. Rodrigues is the founder and director of the HYbrid CONtrol Systems (HYCONS) Laboratory and the leader of the FLIght CONtrol and Simulation (FLICONS) Laboratory at Concordia University.

Roméo A. Dallaire

Founder of the Roméo Dallaire Child Soldiers Initiative

General Roméo Dallaire is founder of the Roméo Dallaire Child Soldiers Initiative, a global partnership with the mission to end the recruitment and use of child soldiers. A celebrated advocate for human rights, General Dallaire is also a respected government and UN advisor and former Canadian Senator.Throughout his distinguished military career, General Dallaire served most notably as Force Commander of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Rwanda prior to and during the 1994 genocide. General Dallaire provided the United Nations with information about the planned massacre, which ultimately took more than 800,000 lives in less than 100 days; yet, permission to intervene was denied and the UN withdrew its peacekeeping forces. General Dallaire, along with a small contingent of Ghanaian soldiers and military observers, disobeyed the command to withdraw and remained in Rwanda to fulfill their ethical obligation to protect those who sought refuge with the UN forces.

Sarah Jenna

Co-founder and CEO of My Intelligent Machines, Associate Professor in biochemistry at UQAM

Sarah Jenna is a Professor in Genomics at the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM) and CEO and co-Founder of My Intelligent Machines (MIMs; www.mims.ai), a company developing artificial Intelligence-powered platform to help life-scientists find, share and analyse their omic (genomic, proteomic, metabolomic...) data. She received her Ph.D. degree in cell biology and microbiology in 1998 from the University Aix-Marseille in France. She was a post-doctoral fellow at McGill University in cell signaling, genomics and proteomics. The research program she carries out in her laboratory (http://jennasarah.wixsite.com/jennaslab), develops novel integrative genomic strategies to better understand functional interactions between genes and the plasticity of signaling programs controlling epithelial morphogenesis in nematodes and humans. She is one of the rare woman scientists with a university position becoming CEO of a high-technology company.

Serguei Mokhov

Affiliate Assistant Professor, Computer Science and Software Engineering and Concordia Institute for Information Systems Engineering ; Manager, Networks and Security, ENCS Network, AITS, Dean of Engineering

Serguei Mokhov had obtained his PhD from Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, where he completed his bachelor's and master's degrees in Computer Science and Information Systems Security. Dr. Mokhov's multidisciplinary research interests include intensional programming, distributed and autonomic computing, digital forensics, information systems security, AI, software engineering, computer graphics and HCI, Linux, and computer networks. His PhD dissertation had to do with Intensional Cyberforensics. He also teaches at Concordia and Champlain College of Vermont various subjects in those disciplines and is a Manager, Networks and Security in ENCS. Mokhov is a Co-founder of CCIFF.ca and in particular was involved in co-organizing and chairing its Entertainment Technology (ET) Summit and Exhibition in 2016 and leading its 2017 edition (http://cciff.ca/2017/festival/et).
