In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations). We will share three powerful ideas in a single inspiring session.

CHIARA LUZZANA

Sound Designer | Music Composer | Sound Artist

he was born in a town by the lake in northern Italy. She has lived between Milan and the rest of the world. Chiara designs for the hearing by creating sound journeys from the ears to the soul. She learned to listen to the sounds and the music even before she started to speak. This soon became her language. As a kid she studied guitar, clarinet and piano. However, there was something in that extremely strict way of teaching that stopped her creativity. She than improvise these instruments by mixing new sounds captured from everyday life with the use of analog synthesizers. Become an audio engineer in 2005. As a rule of creation, she never uses preexisting sounds. She records and alters these sounds; giving them new life, rhythm and melody. She is an inventor of innovative (and unusual) musical instruments and sound sculptures. She teaches Sound Design and Music for Audiovisual in some of the most important Italian and Chinese Art Academies.

HADY GHASSABIAN

Space Explorer

Hady is a space-geek and is passionate about science in general. Currently, he is doing his research at the German Space Agency, the DLR Institute of Space Systems, on bioregenerative life support systems in order to make manned missions to Mars a reality. He has been selected as a suborbital astronaut for a joint research program between NASA and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University for a study on the upper mesosphere. Hady is also involved with the Space Exploration Project division of the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC), in support of the United Nations Programme on Space Applications advocating for the future of space exploration. He is also an inventor, he likes to create new stuff out of nothing. Simona Biancalana has 10 years' experience in the digital engagement field, creating cross-media experiences between on and off line. Since 2003 she has been collaborating with the University of Siena, University for Foreigners in Perugia, Roma Tre University and other private institutions to professionally train new employees in the digital field. In her free time, Simona offers consultancy for the launch and development of non-profit start-ups. Gaming expert and passionate about storytelling, she promotes gaming as a training and learning experience.
