In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Music in Common

Music In Common, Inc. (MiC) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to strengthen and connect communities through the universal language of music by providing a platform for the exchange of ideas and collaborations that can lead to positive social change. In an effort to deepen understanding between faiths, Music in Common brings together Jewish, Muslim, and Christian youth to write, record, and perform a song together. In the process they discover common ground while learning about each other’s faiths and cultures. The immersive experience sharpens the valuable life skills of collaboration, communication, and compromise. In 2015 local musician Jason Feddy brought MiC to Orange County to address rising intolerance throughout the region. “If we are to be voices for peace among peoples, we have to get to know each other,” Feddy states. Music in Common participants Aria Gittleson, Arthur “Trey” Carlisle, and Sarah Sayed present their perspectives at TEDx Mission Viejo.
