The time of the year you have all been waiting for has finally arrived! This year’s annual conference is happening on the Sunday, 13th March!

The theme this year is Off The Record: Stories Untold, and we invite everyone to consider what stories, ideas, revelations, or perspectives they have not had the opportunity to share with others. Today is the perfect day to revisit those ideas and keep them in mind and bring them to the conference! Each TEDx conference seeks to create an instant community that is connected by the ideas each participant brings, and we want everyone to be sharing their ideas with each other on the day. Throughout the day, besides listening to speakers, we will also have live performances, screenings, and other activities to enjoy.

The Ticket pricing is as follows:

2. £25 for LSE Students and LSE Alumni
3. £30 for External members of the Public

For society members, please make sure to purchase one ticket only, as more than one ticket in your name will not be recognised on the day of the conference.

We have a long roster of exciting speakers who will be on stage doing just that with you, sharing their ideas and innovations. The speakers will be released one by one over the next month so watch this space!

Barbara Dolgova

Barbara Dolgova is a founder and editor behind the International Lifestyle Guide – a bilingual online destination for everyone interested in travel, culture and art. She has recently made it to the top of the Saatchi & Saatchi Worldwide news section with her publication about Alexander James Artist Residency, gaining more than 140,000 views for her works. Barbara is currently pursuing Media & Cultural Studies degree at the University of the Arts, London and is a summer graduate of the New York Film Academy (Los Angeles) in acting. She is a Director of Brand Strategy & Creative Writer at Chainy - an online platform established to empower creative people to work with the world’s leading brands and artists.

Bissan Salman

Bissan Salman is a MSc in Human Rights student who is focusing on Women’s Rights. She has a degree in Political Science and a diploma in Communication from Bar-Ilan University in Israel. In 2014 she worked as a dialogue facilitator at Bar-Ilan University where she co-facilitated an academic course called “Musical Dialogue between Arabs and Jews”. At the age of 15 she started to volunteer at an International NGO for Children’s Rights called “Arigatou International” and she joined several international conferences and workshops for peace several times in Geneva, Switzerland and twice in Japan. In 2011 she represented the organization at the World Scout Jamboree in Sweden and a year after she was invited to be a role model for youth in an international conference in Tanzania, Africa. In 2013 she completed an internship at the Israeli fund for UNICEF; during her internship she wrote a position paper for policy change for the Knesset.

Camilla Born

Camilla Born is a climate activist and not afraid to say to say it. Her work in climate diplomacy with E3G sees her crossing a wide range of constituencies across the world, from grassroots campaigners to the global elite. Camilla is particularly concerned with creating the tools and agency to address the dual challenge of dealing with escalating climate impacts whilst accelerating the transition to net zero emissions. Her experience in youth climate campaigning has shown her that the importance of tackling climate change is an intergenerational issue.

James Wallman

James Wallman is an author, journalist, and futurist who reads the zeitgeist and helps businesses prepare for the future. James's views on today's culture and the future have appeared in publications including The Economist, the Financial Times and The Guardian. James has interviewed Noam Chomsky, Richard Thaler, the victims of serious crime, child soldiers, and, for a report on the future of relationships, a woman who wanted to marry her alarm clock! Companies that James has helped prepare for the future include BMW, Google, HSBC, Selfridges, and Zurich Insurance Group. James recently demonstrated his ability to read and reflect the zeitgeist in his highly acclaimed and bestselling book, Stuffocation. It is about one of the defining cultural trends of the 21st century: the shift from materialism to what James calls “experientialism”. That is, instead of looking for happiness, identity, status and meaning in material goods, people are seeking them in experiences instead.

Joelle Eid

Joelle Eid is currently pursuing a masters degree in Media and Communications at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Prior to that, she worked in refugee and humanitarian communications and acted as Spokesperson for the UN World Food Programme and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, covering the Syria crisis. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and Political Science from the Lebanese American University in Beirut and has also previously worked with the Permanent Mission of Lebanon to the United Nations, Mercy Corps International and the International Catholic Migration Commission.

Joris Luyendijk

Joris Luyendijk is a London-based journalist and writer. His most recent book is Swimming with Sharks (2015, Faber Guardian), an anthropological investigation into the world of banking in the City of London. A keen advocate of innovation in journalism, Luyendijk likes to immerse himself in a subject for years while drawing on his training as an anthropologist to bring out the stories ignored or missed by mainstream media. Swimming with Sharks has become an international bestseller. In his native Holland Swimming with Sharks ('Dit Kan Niet Waar Zijn') even became the best sold book of 2015. A dozen more foreign editions are forthcoming. Earlier work by Luyendijk focuses on the six years he spent in the Middle East, first as researcher and later as correspondent. 'Hello Everybody' (Faber, 2010) offers an account of how Middle-East correspondent really work rather than how they pretend they work. The French edition was awarded with the Prix des Assises du Journalisme in 2010.

My Lan Nguyen

My Lan Nguyen grew up in south western Germany and moved to Berlin for her undergraduate degree in 2010. During and after her studies in Berlin, she had been living in different countries for internships and studies before she moved to London in 2015 to do her Master’s degree in “Organisational and Social Psychology” at the LSE. Her talk is inspired by the personal experiences she gained during her studies.

Noemie Delfassy

Noémie Delfassy is working on the development of her venture, Finer Flavors. Finer Flavors was founded in 2014 to lead the way to a food system we can trust by making packaged foods as close as possible to real food. The first FRECIOUS product line of fresh veggie mixes helps professional chefs and home cooks alike prepare amazing meals and snacks effortlessly. Noémie’s prior professional experience has been focused on growth strategy, operations and change management. Most recently, she was responsible for strategic and operational oversight of the world’s largest chocolate manufacturer, Barry Callebaut, on behalf of its majority shareholder the Jacobs Holding A.G. She started her career as a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group in Dallas, Texas. Noémie studied international relations and business administration at Boston University, and received her MBA with honors from Harvard Business School in 2010. She lives in Geneva, Switzerland.

Peggy Bouchet

After her bachelor and master degrees in France and England, in 1996 Peggy became export financial engineer at Alcatel in Paris. But she decided not soon after to challenge herself to ‘be the first woman to dare to row across an ocean’. After 3000 miles, alone at sea for 79 days, rowing 10 hours a day and a day before arrival (29th May 1998) in Guadeloupe the boat capsized in a raging sea (7/8 metre high waves). She endured 9 long hours during which, straddled on the hull of her boat almost sinking, she survived and was rescued at the last minute. But Peggy didn’t accept this unfinished victory: she swore to do it again. 18 months later, more determined than ever, she left Cape Verde Islands. After 2,500 miles, 800,000 strokes, Peggy arrived in Martinique on 5th January 2000, with the extraordinary satisfaction of having achieved her goal. Peggy is co-founder of a project responding to major technological and environmental challenges facing new industry for clean energy and navigation.

Rocco Van Den Berg

Rocco van den Berg is a freelance innovation lead, currently working for the Digital Accelerator of Philips, accelerating digital innovation projects in areas such as diabetes, asthma, COPD, pregnancy and elderly care. He has a PhD in Molecular Immunology and over 17 years of experience driving digital strategies and disruptive product innovations at a wide variety of companies such as Elsevier Science, PwC, IBM, Endemol and Aegon Insurances. Rocco is passionate about speeding up the development of health solutions and setting up innovation labs. He is coaching and bridging startups, universities and hospitals to launch first-to-the-world digital health solutions using co-creation and lean startup approaches.

Sam Potolicchio

Dr. Sam Potolicchio is Director of Global and Custom Education at the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University. Potolicchio was named as one of "America's Best Professors" by the Princeton Review, the only one in his field and the Future Leader of American Higher Education by the Association of Colleges and Universities. He also serves as the Department Chairman and Distinguished Professor in Political and Social Communications at the School of Public Policy at the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration and as the President of the Preparing Global Leaders Foundation, a leadership training program for rising leaders from over 100 countries. Potolicchio is a senior adviser to high ranking officials around the globe and is currently the Academic Dean of a dual degree program on Global Governance and Leadership between the oldest university in Europe (Bologna) and the largest (RANEPA).

Victor Haghani

Victor Haghani has spent 30 years actively involved in markets and financial innovation. He started his career in 1984 in the Bond Portfolio Analysis research group at Salomon Brothers, and later became a managing director in the Bond Arbitrage group run by John Meriwether. In 1993 Victor became a founding partner of Long-Term Capital Management. Victor has remained close to the LSE, where he earned his BSc(econ) in 1984. He has given lectures and has conducted research as a Research Associate in the Financial Markets Group. In 2011, Victor founded Elm Partners (www.elmfunds.com) to help investors manage their savings in an efficient and disciplined manner, and to capture the long term returns they ought to earn. Victor has published research papers on various topics in finance, and has given several TEDx talks, including ‘Where are all the billionaires, and why should we care?’ in 2013.

William Browder

William Browder is the founder and CEO of Hermitage Capital Management. He was the largest foreign investor in Russia until November 2005, when he was suddenly denied entry to the country and declared “a threat to national security” by the Russian government for exposing corruption at large Russian companies. Since 2009 when his lawyer, Sergei Magnitsky, died in a Russian prison after uncovering a US$230 million fraud committed by Russian government officials, Browder has been leading a global campaign to expose the corruption and human rights abuses endemic in Russia. Mr. Browder recently published a bestselling book entitled Red Notice: A True Story of High Finance, Murder, and One Man’s Fight for Justice, which recounts his experience in Russia and ongoing fight for justice for Sergei Magnitsky. Before founding Hermitage, Browder was Vice-President at Salomon Brothers. He holds a BA (Honours) in Economics from the University of Chicago and an MBA from Stanford Business School.
