In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Brittany Malcolm

Student
Brittany Jonee, a Year 13 student at Lucaya International School in Grand Bahama, is the eldest child of Linda and Barry Malcolm of Freeport, Grand Bahama Island. Age 17 years, she has set a standard for excellence and has earned a reputation for focused hard work and execution as a student of St. Andrews International School, Nassau, and Lucaya International School, Freeport. At both institutions she has excelled in the Arts and Sciences, and has developed as a valued leader and contributor to student campus life. Upon graduation in 2017, Brittany plans to attend college in North America. Her target areas of study will be Finance and Law. Brittany is an accomplished musician, whose instrument of choice is the violin, which she has studied, under the tutelage of Mrs. Eva Ratuszynski, of Poland for over 12 years. Her civic interests include participation in the music ministry of her church and service as the current President of Rotaract Club of Lucaya.

Dillon Archer

Student
Dillon Cameron Archer is the child of Dwayne and Evelyn Archer. He is a 12th grade student at Bishop Michael Eldon School (BMES) in Grand Bahama. With the guidance of faculty and peers, Dillon recently established BMES’ student council, where he serves as president. A member of BMES’ Mousetrap team since ninth grade, his team has won the local SECME mousetrap competition in Grand Bahama both as juniors and seniors and travelled to Alabama and Tennessee, USA to compete where they placed second each time. He also served as a team leader for the vex robotics programme at BMES. An accomplished student, he currently has eight B.G.C.S.E’s where he obtained ‘A’ grades in Mathematics, Physics, Biology, and Combined Science and ‘B’ grades in Religious Studies, Spanish, Chemistry, and Language. He is also a pianist, having studied at the Allegro school of music, and has performed for live audiences on multiple occasions. He has two brothers, Domonic and Duston, and one sister, Dara.

Kerel Pinder

Writer / Motivational Speaker / Television Personality
Kerel was born in the Bahamas. She obtained a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Acadia University, a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and a second Masters degree in Communication and Leadership from Park University. Kerel also recently completed an 8 – week Screenwriting Course at the New York Film Academy’s LA Campus in March 2016. In 2010 after writing her first short play, she was selected as one of the top three finalists in the Freeport Player’s Guild;Young Play writer’s Competition. However it wasn’t until 2014 that Kerel established herself as a successful playwright with the debut of her Bahamian Icon nominated production “Sarah’s Wedding”. She also released her Hit 2016 summer production; “New Rules of Sex and Dating!” In January 2016, Kerel also added a new title to her resume by becoming a first-time author with the release of her book: “The One Year Challenge – A new Journey to Love, Purppose & Courtship.”

Timico (SawYerBoy) Sawyer

Timico ‘SawYerBoy’ Sawyer is a comedian, vlogger, and social media sensation based in Nassau, Bahamas. He only recently began his career in the entertainment industry releasing his first video on Mother’s Day 2013 and he hasn’t looked back since! With over 65,000 followers on social media, his videos have been viewed more than 5 million times! Asked why he does his comedy, Timico says, “simply to put smiles on people’s faces”. Winner of the Bahamian Icon Award for entertainment in 2015, he credits his three beautiful kids — Timico, Tamia, and Taylor Rose Sawyer–as his inspiration.
