In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Dave Hanson

Dave Hanson and his wife moved to downtown Yakima a decade ago when crime, homeless and hunger was high. As a direct result of living downtown and getting involved, he found the means to prevention through feeding families, housing the homeless, community mobilization and organizational networking. Dave believes investing in the community with such things as graffiti removal and neighborhood clean-up are connected to the reduction of homelessness and hunger. As a result of these revelations, he founded and serves as the Executive Director of Sunrise Outreach Center, a community organization. Dave Hanson is also a pastor at Yakima Vineyard Church.
