In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Alexander Woznicki

Alex is a senior at Royal Oak High School. He is a member of Model United Nations, the school's robotics team, and NHS. He has been playing piano for twelve years, and recently started violin. He plans on pursuing degrees in neuropsychiatry and evolutionary biology, as he is particularly interested in human behaviour and the reasons behind those behaviours, while still having an impact on the lives of individuals. After med school, Alex is looking to join Doctors Without Borders, as a means to travel the world practicing medicine, teaching, and experiencing different cultures.

Alexis Brown

Alexis has been class board president for four years, is a member of the leadership class at her school, is a member of a nonprofit called Go, runs track, loves volunteering during the summer tutoring elementary kids, and is apart of Go a XQ team that made it to the semi-finals. When she graduates high school, Alexis plans to attend Wayne State University, where she will double major in Sociology and Urban Planning. Alexis’s dream is to open up her own nonprofit in Detroit that focuses on mentoring Detroit youth as young leaders.

Caroline Anne Dilliplane

When not doing homework, Caroline’s hobbies include reading, cooking and hanging out with friends. She is currently volunteering at the Crossroads Pregnancy Center for her Capstone Project. This has been a very rewarding experience for Caroline, and she has been able to help improve the center in a number of ways, such as starting a Bible-study curriculum. In the fall, Caroline plans to attend Trinity International University in Deerfield, IL, where she will study Communication and Leadership. Caroline says being able to participate in this event has been a great honor for her as it has prepared her for her future in the world of communications.

Jahnavi Nalamolu

Jahnavi moved to the US from India when she was six years old. Jahnavi is an active participant in various clubs such as DECA, HOSA, and Student Council. She enjoys reading, hanging out with her friends and playing tennis. She has played tennis for 5 years and plays on the varsity team for her school. In the future, Jahnavi would like to pursue a career in the medical field. She enjoys public speaking and hopes that her TEDxYouth Talk will make a difference. Jahnavi is currently in the IB prep program and plans to pursue the full IB Diploma Programme.

Micah Dymond

Some of Micah’s hobbies include drawing and reading. She is especially interested in humanitarian issues, marketing, history, and literature. Micah enjoys challenging herself through both learning and playing sports. She participates in cross country, and track and field. For the next two years, Micah plans on being a part of the International Baccalaureate Programme at Oxford High School. Micah is grateful for the opportunities that she has been blessed with. In the long term, Micah hopes to devote her life to helping others, especially children in need.

Riley Juntti

Riley is a member of HOSA Future Medical Professionals, the I’m Third volunteer group, and Model United Nations. She is also an avid music enthusiast, and spends most of her free time playing guitar. Outside of school Riley works as a sales associate and leads a theatre group at Macomb Oakland Regional Center, an organization working with people with physical and mental disabilities. Riley has recently been working towards earning certification to be a caregiver for people with special needs. Riley plans to attend college to pursue neuroscience and law.

Riya Shah

Riya is currently in the rigorous IB Diploma Programme and loves to travel. She has been to more than 16 countries and wants to go to many, many more. She loves learning about the culture and rich history of different countries and wants to expand her perspective to encompass a more global understanding. Presently, Riya is quadrilingual, but she wishes to learn more languages. She is an avid dancer currently in her 6th year of classical training. Riya wants to pursue a career in the medical field so that she can fulfill her dream of positively impacting the lives of people all around her.

Sydney Harless

Sydney will be attending Central Michigan University’s Honors College where she plans to study information technology. Gender equality and leadership are two things which she cares a lot about. This is why Sydney helped create a Girls on Technology group at her school to encourage girls to pursue a career in technology. She also participates in her school’s Lady Esteem Leadership club as well as student government. In addition, Sydney loves playing sports and being athletic; she is a member of her school’s varsity volleyball and soccer teams.

Taylor Amari Little

Growing up, Taylor moved several times in the Detroit area. She won a scholarship to temporarily live and study in Japan when she was 15. Taylor is the founder and president of Liberation of Hidden Colors, a member of the executive board of the school’s Diversity Committee, and a member of the District Diversity Committee of Farmington Hills. She is currently enrolled in the IB Diploma Program. Taylor also founded The Temple Project, a project that serves those in need around Detroit, which she presented at the Detroit SOUP. Staying true to her faiths of Islam and Soka Gakkai International Nichiren Buddhism, Taylor actively pursues social justice and diversity education.
