Ali Hasan

Student

Ali Hasan is a junior at Flint Hill School. Ali is involved in many school activities, such as managing the soccer team, founding his own club, and being an active participant in other clubs. Ali aspires to impact the world positively, leaving a legacy. In his Ted Talk, Ali will discuss why students value grades more than knowledge. He hopes to change the way we think about future education.

Alimatou Demba

Student

Alimatou Demba is a junior at Flint Hill. She is presently co-president of the Black Student Union and a representative for the Inclusive Leadership Council. She is involved with many school activities ranging from the Gender and Sexuality Alliance to varsity basketball. As her first time speaking publicly, Alimatou will discuss the reasons she believes that society has not progressed socially and will explain the impact of school and the media on our subconscious notion that “white” is better.

Daisy Anderson

Student

Daisy Anderson is a passionate singer in sixth grade. Daisy also loves to play lacrosse and hopes to score 10 goals in one game. Additionally, Daisy takes interest in cheer and dance. Her energy and activity made her think about how challenging it would be to need a prosthetic and live such an active life. Her talk explains the future of prosthetics and how they will become easier to create and use.

Daniel Lamont

Student

Daniel Lamont, a sixth grader, is an aspiring singer who wants to change the way people look at the world. His friends inspired him to write his talk “Distinguishing ‘Normal’,” which will try to change the way people categorize each other. He hopes that in 20 years people with be thankful that they are different. This is Daniel’s second TEDx Talk.

Eliza Mankin

Student

Eliza Mankin, a sophomore at Flint Hill, is president of the Environment Club, co-leader of the Poetry Club, a peer counselor, and a member of the varsity soccer team. Eliza is a hug enthusiast, and a Mario Kart expert. In her talk, she aims to change the way people perceive gender. Her talk highlights gender as an ever-changing and evolving concept. She hopes that someday the wage gap will be non-existent, gender-neutral bathrooms will be more plentiful, and gender roles will be less harsh and present throughout our society.

Jayna Patel

Student

Jayna Patel is a junior at Flint Hill School. Jayna is the founder and leader of the Hooked on Books book club and she is a staff member of the Flint Hill Writing Center and the News Editor for Flint Hill’s school newspaper. Jayna’s talk will reflect on trying new things and encourage listeners to maximize their opportunity to try new things. Her talk will highlight the various ways in which we can change schools to allow for more student exploration and choice.

Karina Morey

Student

Karina Morey is in seventh grade and loves theater, basketball, field hockey, and is part of the seventh and eighth grade SCA. She would love to be fluent in more than two languages other than English and plans to live outside of the United States in the future. Her talk, “Languages of the Future,” reflects the need to be more educated in other languages as globalization becomes more important.

Leyla Ebrahimi

Leyla Ebrahimi is a sophomore at Flint Hill School. Leyla is a member of the tennis and track teams, Major Minors, SCA, and the Environmental Club. Leyla is an avid writer, and she believes that writing is a great way to express herself quietly. In her talk, Leyla will discuss growing up in a Persian household, where she has treasured and valued her Iranian background. She will explain her personal experiences with Iran and the Middle East, and she hopes that in the future, we can learn to separate a country from the small percent of bad that might inhabit it.

Necati Unsal

Student

Necati Unsal is a sixth grade student who loves track, swimming, and theater. His talk “Trust and Joy of Learning: Education in the Future” will give his audience a different angle on education, and how he hopes it will change in the future. He wishes to make Junior Olympics for track, and aspires to be a successful student in the present and future.

Rohan Sindhwani

Student

Rohan Sindhwani is a sophomore at Flint Hill. Rohan is a leader in many club including the Inclusive Student Union, the Water club, and the Finance club. He also participates in both the debate club and Model U.N. Outside of school, Rohan is an avid and competitive tennis and piano player. He has created his own non-profit organization and volunteers at hospitals and doctor offices. Rohan’s talk will discuss the future of food, emphasizing revolutionary methods of farming, and suggest a different perspective of innovation.
