Chada El-Islam Benmahcene

Implicated on so many levels, Chada is an outstanding active learner. As a student she was the top of her junior class at the American University in Cairo (AUC) before she was granted the opportunity to study at the University of Colorado Boulder where she published a research paper in addition to being particularly involved. With a strong belief that personal growth will never be meaningful, unless it leads to a durable local impact; Chada served in several local initiatives to fulfill this vision. Not mention her volunteerism in humanitarian convoys to Gaza, India, and Lebanon’s Syrian refugee camps.

Djalila Kadi-Hanifi

A rapturous love of words and the ability to deliver her sensitivity, DjalilaKadi-Hanifi is the founder of Chrysalide, a non-profit organization promoting art and culture. Djalila first thought mathematics at university but then resorted to her inclination: writing. She published under the pseudonym Hajar Bali a variety of works including plays that were adapted for theater like Le détour and Le testament.

Kahina Bouagache

A compelling figure of women’s rights. Kahina dedicates her career as a lawyer supporting women’s empowerment both regionally and internationally. She is the Legal Adviser/North Africa Specialist and Magherb expert at Manaar Legal Consultancy. She was formerly a member of the American Bar Association (ABA) for over five years as a legal adviser and Program Manager. As an activist, Kahina provides regional pro-bono support for women and children. Besides, she’s the contractor for AMIDEAST regional programs promoting Youth Education.

Leah Bitat

Leah Bitat moved to Algeria with her family in 2010. She is a native of Alaska, USA and a graduate of Harvard University’s School of Education. Leah has had the pleasure of discovering Algeria via her work leading World Learning’s programs here, expanding educational projects to 13 Wilayas across the country, in such diverse places as Adrar, Tizi Ouzou, Ouargla, Bejaia and Annaba, to name a few. Leah enjoys the rich culture, history and food of Algeria, and especially how much Algerians love and cherish their children.

Lila Messaoudi

Enthusiasm, dynamism, competence and good discipline all exert great influences. Lila Messaoudi is a prodigious inspiration. Her vigorous progress and passion for the English language compelled her to complete a career as a teacher and pedagogical responsible. Lila is worthy of women growth in Algeria both as a persevering individual and a conveyor of insight.

Majda Nafissa Rahal

A giver at heart, Majda is mostly known for her work on eduDz.net, offering support and complementary materials free-of-charge for thousands of Algerian high-school students. This open source enthusiast was also the Mozilla representative for Algeria from 2011 to 2014, taking on several leadership roles within the organization. Majda is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Information Systems Management at Carnegie Mellon University, after being awarded the prestigious Fulbright scholarship.

Nesrine Gharbi Ferradji

A true instance of fruitful adaptation. Nesrine studied in France at the Ecole Polytechnique before she graduated from Columbia University with a degree in Operations Research. In New York City, she started working for Credit Suisse and RBC (Royal Bank of Canada). Now she has moved to Algeria where she has been availing Lafarge with her valuable skills. Nesrine is also a devoted athlete and a former basketball player!

Yasmine Bouchene

Web and media entrepreneur, YasmineBouchene is a feminist who advocates for algerian businesswomen and entrepreneurs. She will discuss the importance of businesses run by women and the attention the country needs to give to gender equality.

Zohra Drif

Known for her active participation in the freedom struggle of Algeria, ZohraDrif is indeed a great lady and a remarkable figure of the Algerian War of Liberation. As a writer, Zohra portrayed images and stories of the colonial times, which contributed to attitudes towards Women’s growth in the Algerian society. She assisted the country as a lawyer and as the vice-president of the Council of the Nation. Accompanied with her grandson Sami, the dialogue of generations around Algeria’s struggle will finally be launched and the voice of women finally in the next generation hands…
