Bertrand is an instructor at both Bow Valley College, and Olds College. Bertrand is a Calgary writer and educator. His work focuses on black history in Western Canada. He was born in Sierra Leone, raised in Alberta, and educated in the UK. His scholarly and literary work has appeared in the University of Toronto Quarterly, Freefall, KOLA, and The Great Black North Anthology of Black Canadian Poetry.

Ifeoma is a professional accountant with the Finance team at Bow Valley College, and is also an alumnus of the College. Ifeoma believes that simplicity is a must, in surviving our ever-changing, complicated times. Having lived in Italy and now Canada, since leaving the shores of Nigeria several years ago, she has experienced first-hand, how embracing the simple things, can lead to success and great possibilities.

Laura joined Bow Valley College in February, working at the Alberta Aboriginal Construction Career Centre. Laura comes from a small town east of Calgary, were she raised three children and started her career in Social Work. Helping others informs a large part of her life, and has guided her career in many directions. Laura is an eternal optimist, and enjoys traveling, exploring Calgary, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. Laura looks forward to a future full of fun and adventure.

Lisette Xavier is a Canadian singer/songwriter, who has found a way to write pop music, with depth and substance. Lisette has taken a step away from the generic "happy love song" epidemic, and finds inspiration through her endless ambition, and sometimes tragic experiences. Often taking on a dark undertone, her songs are a reminder that even in our darkest moments, we are not alone.

She enthusiastically presents ideas that inspire individuals to build their competence and confidence to lead lives of joy, meaning, and significance.
Tim Loblaw
Coordinator, Teaching and Learning Enhancement
Tim Loblaw is the coordinator of Teaching & Learning Enhancement. Born and bred in Calgary, Tim has 17 years of experience in teaching, facilitation, and educational development. Like many Calgarians, Tim remains faithful to one quadrant of the city, having never strayed from the North West in all the time he’s lived here. And despite the fact that Calgary hasn’t had a professional baseball team for a long time, his favourite spot in the city is the bleachers on the third base side of Foothills Stadium, particularly on a warm summer night.

Todd Hirsch is ATB Financial's Chief Economist. Todd holds a BA Honours in Economics from the U of A and an MA in Economics from the University of Calgary. For over 20 years he’s worked as an economist at Canadian Pacific Railway, the Canada West Foundation and the Bank of Canada. Uncle Tim
Musician and Learner at Bow Valley College
Uncle Tim is a 23 year old Afro-pop/RnB singer, songwriter, and beat producer from Cameroon, who recently moved to Canada, in July 2014. Presently majoring in the Public relations program at the Chiu School of Business, Uncle Tim aims to positively influence the masses, through inspirational and uplifting music, which he hopes will let each person see the good in themselves. "Winner", his most recent song released July 29th, 2014, blends trap 808kicks, African drums, strings, and RnB/Rap melody, and is sung in Pidgin-English, English, and his tribal dialect Kom.
Zainab Malik
Coordinator, Principal Gifts at the University of Calgary
Zainab recently completed her Bachelor's degree in International Relations, at the University of Calgary. She acted as the Faculty of Arts Representative, and was successful in advocating for more Halal food, to cater to the large Muslim student body on campus. Zainab is an avid volunteer in Calgary, working with MOSAIC since its inception, a volunteer organization for youth in Southern Alberta. Zainab hopes to pursue a career involving initiatives for the empowerment and education of women.
