Kenneth Orrego
Student
Kenneth is currently a senior at Quakertown. He is enrolled in the music program along with Quakertown’s newly formed Speech and Debate Team. He feels that the basis of the relative deprivation lies not in the feeling of having less but how it impacts self-esteem. The fact that people can be destroyed by merely thinking they have less than they should leads people not trying to get what they feel they deserve. Kenneth feels that if people have low self-esteem, they do not have the will to try and earn what they feel they deserve, which continues the cycle until the person commits suicide. He feels that this aspect is what should be fixed, not satisfying people by giving what the feel they need.
