Amir Ruben

Amir has spent the past 12 years building robots and computer vision systems. He is currently co-founder + Chief Parakeet of Paracosm, a 3D-mapping startup.

Amon Millner

Amon Millner is an Assistant Professor of Computing and Innovation at Olin College of Engineering. He directs the Extending Access to STEM Empowerment (EASE) Lab and is a Fulbright Specialist. Millner is a co-inventor of the Scratch Programming Environment and started up several key Fab Labs in the growing network of community-based fabrication laboratories.

Bruce Rosenbaum

Bruce Rosenbaum has been dubbed the Steampunk Guru by the Wall Street Journal and Steampunk Evangelist by Wired Magazine. Bruce and his wife Melanie’s functional art Steampunk House has been featured in the Boston Globe, The Chicago Tribune, The New York Times, CNN, Huffington Post, NPR and featured on MTV, A&E, Discovery and HGTV.

Dragana Rogulja

Dragana Rogulja is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurobiology at Harvard Medical School. Her lab studies circadian rhythms and sleep.

Ellen Bartlett

An early fascination with whipping up yummy treats, combined with a love of drawing, set Ellen Bartlett on her path to creating Cakes To Remember. By the time she had graduated from Brown University with a fine arts degree, she knew that her future was about the quest for creating beautiful food. It took working and traveling in Europe, followed by a stint at the Silver Palate in NYC testing and creating recipes for their award winning first cookbook, to having her own small catering business, to realize that her destiny was creating beautiful and delicious one-of-a-kind cake works of art. And in 1988 Cakes to Remember was born. Ellen’s love of gardening, architecture, and textiles has provided a unique and wonderful foundation for developing the designs for which she has become renowned. Her creativity, coupled with a love for client collaboration, has created a process that has allowed her to stay fresh and current.

Hisham Bedri

Hisham Bedri has researched and developed systems to see around corners and through objects using sound waves and other forms of energy propagation. He is passionate about creating the next generation of “Iron Man” type displays. Before joining the Camera Culture group, Hisham studied Electrical Engineering at Tufts University where he developed a system to detect landmines using sound.

Lauren Kuntz

Lauren is a PhD student at Harvard University in Earth and Planetary Sciences. She studies climate dynamics and the hurdles we must overcome to reach a low carbon future.

Laurent Adamowicz

Laurent is the Founder and Chairman of EChO – Eradicate Childhood Obesity Foundation, a not-for-profit organization with a mission to improve overall public health of children. Laurent is also a member of the Nutrition Round Table at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and President of Bon'App, a social enterprise that improves access to, and quality of, nutrition education. Born and raised in Paris, France, Laurent holds an MBA from the Wharton School, a Master of Arts in Socio-Cultural Anthropology from Columbia University, and he is a Senior Fellow of the Advanced Leadership Initiative at Harvard University.

Mary Lou Jepsen

Mary Lou is one of the world’s foremost electro-optic and display innovators, with an exceptional track record of inventions paralleled by years of working with Asia’s largest manufacturers. She has founded 3 startups including One Laptop per Child, and has served as ab executive at Intel, Google and Facebook, as well as a professor at both MITs (MIT and RMIT).

Miles Jackson

What inspires you to give back? Miles Jackson of Cuba Skate employs skateboarding as a tool for cultural diplomacy, diabetes awareness, and service to our communities.

Nikhil Naik

Nikhil is a PhD student at the MIT Media Lab. He works with Prof. Ramesh Raskar on computer vision and computational imaging. He collaborates with Prof. César Hidalgo on undertanding cities using computer vision. He has also worked on applications of time-of-flight imaging and done summer internships at Microsoft Research with the Interactive Visual Mediagroup and at Samsung Research America with Pranav Mistry.

Niu Niu

Niu Niu is the nickname of Chinese pianist Zhang Shengliang, a prodigy who began studying music at age 3. He made his first public appearance at 6, playing a Mozart sonata and a Chopin etude. After moving to Shanghai at 8, he was invited to attend the Shanghai Conservatory, where he became the youngest student ever enrolled there. While his first teacher was his father, Niu Niu became a student of Hung-Kuan Chen at the New England Conservatory in Boston. In 2006, he made a significant career move by performing at Wigmore Hall, and the following year he played Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in London, under the direction of Leslie Howard. In 2007, at age 9, he signed a contract with EMI, and recorded his debut album, Niu Niu plays Mozart, which was released in 2008. After touring China and Japan, Niu Niu released a recording of Chopin’s etudes, and in 2010, he won the Prix Montblanc for most talented young artist. In 2012, he recorded an album of Liszt transcriptions for EMI.

Rebecca Bellingham

Rebecca Bellingham is an Instructor in the Literacy Specialist Program at Columbia University Teachers College. She has been teaching in some capacity for 18 years. Rebecca draws upon her experience and love of theater to help teachers and graduate students connect with their "inner artist" and teach in more effective, powerful, and joyful ways.

Russ Howard

Brigadier General (retired) Russell D. Howard has recently returned as Director of the Monterey Terrorism Research and Education Program. He is President of Howard’s Global Solutions, and an Adjunct Professor at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies. He is also a Senior Fellow at Joint Special Operations University, Senior Mentor for Development Alternatives Incorporated, Senior Advisor for the Singapore Home Team Academy, and on the Board of Advisers for Laser Shot Incorporated. Previously, General Howard was the Director of the Jebsen Center for Counterterrorism Studies at the Fletcher School, and Head of the Department of Social Sciences and the Founding Director of the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point. Prior to going to West Point, General Howard was an Army Chief of Staff Fellow at the Center for International Affairs at Harvard University, and Commander of the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Fort Lewis, Washington.

Terri Lyne Carrington

Terri Lyne Carrington is a 3-time Grammy Award winning jazz drummer and producer. She received a full scholarship to Berklee College of Music at age 11, and later became the youngest person to receive an honorary doctorate from the college as well. She has performed with Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Diana Krall, Al Jarreau, Natalie Cole, Chaka Khan, Stan Getz, Lalah Hathaway, Dianne Reeves and more; she is currently Zildjian Chair in Performance at Berklee College of Music's Global Jazz Institute.
