In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Charles Sutton

To say Charles Sutton wears many hats would be an understatement. With a passion to make things better, Charles is especially passionate about early literary, maker education and using technology to create a sustainable world. Charles has even transformed his home into an urban ecological experiment – implementing workable alternatives to current practices that threaten our water, energy and food security.

Dan Sullivan

Dan Sullivan owns only two kinds of shirts: white long-sleeve dress shirts and t-shirts that he’s been given for free. Whether he is building websites or preaching at a local church, he always has the right shirt for the occasion. From riding through subterranean tunnels in Russia to taking the time to know a local homeless man, Dan is proof that repetition and uniformity can be exciting!

Jodi Duncan

Jodi Duncan found her passion for flowers at the early age of 7. By 19, she owned her first shop, and after years of freelance, she has come full circle as the owner of Jodi Duncan Designs. Jodi travels from coast to coast presenting at design shows, as well as consulting and merchandising for retailers and designers. In 2008, she was inducted into The American Institute of Floral Design, a coveted designation with only 1,200 members worldwide.

Lynn Miller Pease

Lynn Miller Pease has a passion for diversity, servant leadership and the collaborative process. As CEO of Leadership Evansville, she and her team develop servant leaders to transform communities. Lynn’s ability to give all people a voice has led to creative, sustainable solutions like the VOICE community visioning process. Among her many achievements, Lynn has been recognized as, “a tireless community advocate who promotes fairness, inclusion, and respect for all.”

Matthew Rowe

Matthew Rowe has a passion for preservation and brings a unique perspective to the idea of community renaissance. A Newburgh native, Matthew holds a BFA in Art History from the University of Southern Indiana and is a graduate of the Victorian Society’s London School, an organization dedicated to preservation and appreciation of 19th century structures. He is the voice behind WNIN’s popular Downton Abbey talk show, Abbey Chat; frequently engages in public speaking; and has written columns for the Evansville Courier & Press and Evansville Living.

Michael Strezewski

For the past 23 years, Michael Strezewski has dedicated his work to studying history. In that time, he has authored numerous articles and papers on the history and prehistory of the Hoosier state. In addition to teaching at the University of Southern Indiana, his research interests include Harmonist occupation of New Harmony from 1814-1824, Indiana’s fur trade period from 1700-1825 and pre-contact Native American cultures in southwestern Indiana.

Rob Carroll

In his 19 years at South Heights Elementary, Rob Carroll has teamed with an incredible group of people to take the school from the bottom 25 schools in the state to a ranking as high as 27th. Because of his leadership, South Heights is the only school in Kentucky to win the National School Change Award. As a five-time National Model School, Rob and his team have hosted more than 400 visitors from around the nation, and South Heights has been featured in three books on education performance.

Robin Mallery

Robin Mallery wants you to slow down and eat chocolate! After 35 years in the healthcare industry, Robin has seen her share of health issues. In 2008, she founded HeartMatters to help people initiate personalized behavior change in all aspects of physical and emotional health and well-being. Through practicing mindfulness, she helps clients create a positive shift in brain chemistry … and savor life.

Scott Wylie

Scott Wylie wants to ensure that all children in our community have a chance to reach their greatest potential. An attorney by training, Scott is a nationally recognized speaker and commentator on non-profit governance issues, charitable giving and attorney pro-bono efforts. Scott draws on nearly two decades of experience living in Southern California to offer perspective on the benefits of economic development and quality of life improvements to drive a true renaissance in Evansville.

Sean Georges

Sean Georges has come to the inescapable conclusion – based on timeless wisdom and human nature – that the very essence of authentic leadership is servant leadership. A combined 35 years of Marine Corps and civilian leadership experience has lead Sean to study the simple, yet powerful, perspective shift that enables each of us to lead authentically. In addition to extensive community service, Sean is a frequent speaker on leadership, employment law and human resources issues.

Sean Wallace

Sean Wallace grew up in Silent Hill, Jamaica. One of 13 children, Sean’s God-given artistic gifts led him to draw and paint on any materials he could find. After arriving in the United States, he honed his originality, and in 2013, created a unique artistry using old barbed wire. Sean describes his inspiration, “I want my art to be created through the eyes of God. It’s been through His wisdom and guidance that my talents are being developed. The use of barbed wire is a fitting reflection of His soft strength.”

Steve Burger

After spending more than two decades in media, Steve Burger knows the power of storytelling. He has worked in several on-air and management roles in radio and television news as well as with the successful 14news.com local news site. In 2015, he managed the team that produced a national Edward R. Marrow Award for a documentary on three autistic teens. Through it all, Steve has witnessed the evolution of media and maintains that we all have the power to chronicle the stories of our community’s renaissance through public media.

T. Michael Halcomb

Michael Halcomb is an innovator in the field of teaching and helping learners acquire fluency in dead languages. Blending scholarship with enthusiasm and effective pedagogy, Michael works to create resources and communities for amateurs and scholars alike. In addition to founding the Conversational Koine Institute, he co-founded GlossaHouse publishing, has authored numerous books, and is an avid conference presenter.
