Theme: Communicating Hope for the Society

We're inviting lecturers, students, and alumni of the university to talk about what they have contributed to the society near them. Through this event, we expect the audiences, students and teachers alike, will be inspired even more to fulfill the hope of the society.

Alan Dwi Prasetyo

Student, Techno-Environmentalist

Being young does not mean you cannot do anything important. Alan Dwi Prasetyo along with his two friends proved this by creating 'Celengan Limbah' app, in order to raise awareness for recycling which is currently still lacking, especially in Indonesia. Alan and his team has made change and even achieved an award in national level for their work.

Denny Neilment

Entrepreneur, Accomplished Alumni of UII

Denny Neilment is a successful coffee shop entrepreneur, and has given back a lot to the society while also fulfilled his passion about coffee. He has a particular concern to the coffee farmers in Mount Merapi, Yogyakarta, who struggled after an eruption in 2010, and has helped them to get back on their feet ever since.

Dr Is Fatimah

Head of Department of Chemistry, UII

Is Fatimah is a lecturer and head of Chemistry Department of Universitas Islam Indonesia. In 2014, she is the only scientist from Indonesia to win a research grant from The world Academy of Sciences (TWAS). Her concerns is green and environmentally friendly chemistry.

Dr Widodo Brontowiyono

Dean of Faculty of Civil Engineering & Planning, UII

Dr.-Ing Widodo Brontowiyono is the dean of Faculty of Civil Engineering & Planning, UII, Yogyakarta. With his background in Environmental Engineering, he has become an expert and a professional consultant regarding urban environment, including the preservation of rivers.

Dr Wiryono Raharjo

Lecturer of Architecture, UII

Dr. Wiryono Raharjo is an accomplished architect and also a senior lecturer of architecture in Universitas Islam Indonesia.

Dr Yulianto Purwono Prihatmaji

Head of Science & Technology Research Center, UII

Dr. Yulianto Purwono Prihatmaji is the head of Science & Technology Research Center in UII. He has been involved in a lot of projects that empower community, one of them is 'Sekolah Lurah' (School for Head of Villages). Together with his colleagues, Dr. Prihatmaji will show through his work that the development of villages are no less important than urban development.

Hijrah Purnama Putra

Lecturer of Environmental Engineering, UII

Hijrah Purnama Putra is an environmentalist who spent his Saturday nights collecting trash and recycle them into useful daily products. His concerns are also including raising awareness of waste disposal and landfill as well as encouraging social entrepreneurship.

Lutfi Zanwar Kurniawan

Student Activist

Lutfi Zanwar Kurniawan is an activist who got involved in a lot of social activities. He urges his friends to bring their books to campus, lend them to other people, and actively participating in various discussions in a fun space they'd like to call "Pojok Baca" (Reading Corner)

Meika Hazim

Entrepreneur, Accomplished Alumni of UII

Meika Hazim is a young entrepreneur who celebrates her cultural and heritage through her business. She also has a huge concern for women and society empowerment, sharing her knowledge not only to fellow entrepreneurs, but also to students who are aspired to be one, by being a part time lecturer teaching business.
