A career in science rarely leads to wealth and a life of luxury. More often than not, the opposite is the unfortunate truth. Many important scientific discoveries have in fact been made only thanks to the curiosity and unyielding thirst for knowledge of the scientists making them. However, research, its quality and quantity, is completely dependent on funding, which is often insufficient.
This event has three goals. First, to present interesting cutting-edge science. Second, bring attention to how scientific research is being funded in the UK. And last, but not least, to involve the audience and spark meaningful conversations.
