Bill Heybourne
Bill Heybourne is a hands-on science educator of the first order. His talk begins with his personal history with science and teaching, and it ends with Bill assuming the role of the great teachers from his past. Bill is a Kanab, Utah native and Southern Utah University alumnus. Dr. Heyborne obtained a master’s degree in entomology from Oregon State University, and PhD in biology from the University of Northern Colorado. Bill now works as Assistant Professor of Biology and Director of the SUU STEM Center. Away from work, Dr. Heyborne and his wife Jennifer have three children, and enjoy recreating in the beautiful surroundings of southern Utah.
Cameron Alldredge
At age 18, Cameron earned both his basic and advanced hypnosis certifications. His talk explores the possibilities of using hypnosis to better understand the human psyche. Cameron is a junior psychology major at Southern Utah University, an after graduating from Southern Utah University, he plans to go on to graduate school to earn a doctorate degree. He is hopeful for the future and is working to one day leave a positive impact in psychology.
Ciara Jackson
Ciara Jackson tackles the subject of ethnicity and identity through her hair and hairstyles. Ciara is currently a communication major with an emphasis in Public Relations and a minor in Political Science. Ciara is actively involved in the Southern Utah University Honors program. She enjoys volunteering her time with the Make A Wish Foundation, the Frontier Homestead, and a local story time.
David Ivers
David Ivers challenges us to find vast and personal connections we can find in events that only seem to be coincidental. David earned his B.F.A. in theatre from Southern Oregon University and an M.F.A. in acting from the University of Minnesota. He has spent fifteen seasons as an actor and director with the Utah Shakespeare Festival.
Leesa Ricci
Leesa Ricci is a passionate advocate for citizen science projects and believes we can all contribute to the body of scientific knowledge in meaningful ways through participatory culture. Leesa is currently working on her Master’s of Public Administration degree at Southern Utah University. Leesa works at the Ashcroft Observatory and is the current Director of the Southern Utah Space Foundation.
