TEDxUPM is a half-day event in University of the Philippines Manila that aims to bring together bright minds to foster learning, inspiration and wonder and provoke conversations that matter. The program will be composed of videos of TEDTalks, performances, and talks to be delivered by Abbey Sy, Tony Abad, Antoinette Jadaone, and Julia Chu.

Abbey Sy

A graduate of Advertising Management in the De La Salle University, Abbey Sy is a freelance lettering artist. The blogger behind artistic-dreams.com, her works have been featured in several publications (such as Philippine Daily Inquirer, The Philippine Star, Candy Magazine, and Total Girl) and online. She has also done work for brands such as QUIRKS and Punchdrunk Panda.

Antoinette Jadaone

Antoinette Jadaone was first pushed into the spotlight with her direction and writing of the film, Six Degrees of Separation from Lilia Cuntapay, released in 2011. Recently, her work on the film English Only, Please earned her several awards during the Metro Manila Film Festival including Best Screenplay and Best Original Story. Her past films include Relaks, It’s Just Pag-ibig, Beauty In A Bottle, and the critically-acclaimed That Thing Called Tadhana.

Julia Chu

Graduated Magna Cum Laude in BA Public Administration in UP Diliman, Julia Chu believes in making positive impact in society. As the Local Committee President of AIESEC UP Diliman, she has worked with Pilipinas Shell and Philippine Development Foundation for Project Tuklas- a science innovation fair giving full scholarships to public high school students. Julia also served as the National Committee Vice President for Incoming Global Internship Programme in AIESEC Peru.

Tony Abad

Tony Abad is a lecturer on International Economic Law at the Ateneo de Manila Law School and Managing Director of T A Trade Advisory Services. Prior to founding T A, he served as President and CEO of the Philippine International Trading Corporation. He was also appointed by the President as Commissioner of the Tariff Commission, as Administrator of the NFA, and as Chairman and President of the Food Terminal, Inc.
