Classick
Classick is an experiment in blending two distinct music genres, classical and hip-hop, into one coherent work. Both subcultures fuse to create compositions where classical music, such as Bach, is supported by rappers and visa versa. Collaborations on this project break down social and societal barriers to stimulate greater understanding, appreciation and mutual respect.
Floor & Liz
Floor Klop and Liz Aarsen, both 18 years old, have been making music together for over a year now. They met at school in Amsterdam and their most significant performance so far has been on the open podium in Rozentuin.
Fluxo Acrobatics
Fluxo Acrobatics is a multidisciplinary acrobatic theater group. Ten international acrobats (Bruno, Mira, Lotte, Steven, Roos, Froukje, Inez, Eric, Gabi and Eva), brought together by TEDxAmsterdamED team member Mira Gleisberg, join forces for a unique and spectacular partner acrobatics performance. On stage, the acrobats hope to inspire with breathtaking body art and a powerful game of trust! Off stage, they aim to motivate people to live an active lifestyle, which includes ‘complex’ exercise like acrobatics.
Gaby Ong & Francis
Kunstbende is an organization aiming to discover, develop and showcase young talent. Over the last 25 years, Kunstbende has become the leading talent contest for young people between the ages of 13 and 18, with categories including dance, expo, language, DJ, fashion, film, music and theatre. Through an intensive trajectory of workshops, open podia, regional qualification rounds and a national final, Kunstbende stimulates young creative talent to take their first steps onto the professional stage.

JESS

André Haardt
In 2008, Andre was working for an Italian printing company and during that time he read an article about how most children spend their time after school - two hours of instant messaging and playing games. And this was even before Facebook and social media entered our lives. Andre came up with an idea: why don’t we create a game that children can play after school, a game that actually supports their learning? Now, Andre owns a company that creates engaging games for children that they can play after school. Instead of being on Facebook for two hours, or chatting away on social media, kids are given the opportunity to play and learn.
Claire Boonstra
In 2012 Claire Boonstra stepped onto the TEDxAmsterdamED stage and announced she was making a complete career change and devoting her work to improving education. Prior to that defining moment, Claire, a civil engineer by trade, founded the augmented reality company Layar (now Blippar). She has been appointed Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and named one of Fast Company’s most influential women in technology. After her talk, she left Layar and founded Operation Education.
Deborah Carter
Deborah has spent years working with entrepreneurs, technology developers, designers, artists and innovation specialists from around the world at work. At home, she has been raising a curious boy who wanted to learn more about technology. When she couldn’t find any, she created NewTechKids, an after-school academy aimed at making children fall in love with technology and computer science. Her aim is to expose all children to the world of technology starting from the real basics.
Dylan Hyman
Dylan Hyman is a primary school teacher in Amsterdam’s new west district. Following a Master in Special Education Needs she began teaching a gifted students program in addition to her regular classroom teaching, and has since made it her mission to bring the skills learned in gifted education to all students. She is involved in various projects to encourage higher level thinking in schools and facilitates an online collaboration network of gifted education teachers in Amsterdam.
Graham Brown-Martin
Graham Brown-Martin is the founder of Learning Without Frontiers (LWF), a global think tank that brought together renowned educators, technologists and creatives to share provocative and challenging ideas about the future of learning. He left LWF in 2013 to pursue new programs and ideas to transform the way we learn, teach and live. Graham spent 2 years researching, travelling, writing and editing video to create the transmedia work, Learning {Re}imagined published by Bloomsbury Academic, 2014.
Hanna Jochmann-Mannak
In 2008, Hanna started her PhD research on children's (8-12 yrs) online information-seeking. She studied design conventions of websites for children and she studied the effects of different types of interfaces on children's search performance. She has been an advisor in online programs to the municipality of The Hague, and currently works at WizeNoze, an IT startup with a mission to make the online world more suitable for children.
Ingrid van Rossum
Ingrid van Rossum believes that 21st-century skills are not learned sitting behind a desk – they are learned through practicing professional competencies in a real setting. For this reason, Ingrid founded the Team Academy to empower young people to develop their ideas and become entrepreneurial spirits. She uses her background in entrepreneurship, coaching, leadership and innovation to guide Next Generation Entrepreneurs to finding their own path.
Jaap Versfelt
Before starting the leerKRACHT foundation in 2012, Jaap worked 17 years for McKinsey & Company, of which the last few years as one of McKinsey-Amsterdam’s senior partners. Jaap quit McKinsey to lead leerKRACHT as a full-time volunteer, driven by 10 years of education stories – good and bad – from students and teachers in his family and circle of friends.
Jan de Lange
In 2011 Jan de Lange was awarded the lifetime achievement award for design and development in math-and science education (EDDIE) from the International Society for Design and Development in Education. His impressive career began with ten years teaching at secondary schools and universities and led him into research and 25 years of leadership at the Freudenthal Institute of the University of Utrecht. The confrontations with the realities of teaching and learning mathematics steered him in the direction of how to design methods and formats to learn mathematics without anxiety for students. In later years his focus moved into the early years of the scientific thinking resulting in the Curious Minds Project.
Joost Uitdewilligen
As the always inquiring and inspiring creative director of TinQwise, Joost Uitdewilligen loves everything there is to love about learning and technique. Joost puts his heart and soul into his work because he believes in online learning solutions that make people more smart and more social. His statement? “Thanks to ever-evolving technology, our IQ and EQ can continuously be improved and we all should want that to create a better world." In collaboration with the TU Delft and the experimental lab of his own company, Joost has started a project called ‘I am You’ with a goal of positively changing the face – literally – of education.
Lisanne Vriens
Besides sailing, volunteering, and all the average activities a fifteen year old typically takes part in, Lisanne Vriens loves to get people exciting about changing the education system. A high school student in the south of the Netherlands, Lisanne is passionate about making a difference and sharing her dream.
Lital Marom
Lital Marom is a digital visionary, entrepreneur and strategist leading a new approach to learning and social change. As the co-founder and CEO of Beyond, an innovative education and design studio, Lital explores the practice of leadership, self-organized learning, problem solving and design thinking. Her latest venture, The Academy of Tomorrow, is a leadership school that introduces youth to key aspects of leadership development and new ways of merging business practice, critical thinking and human centred design.
Mariette Reineke
Mariette Reineke loves people and connecting with them. She is a student of life, learning new things every day. She is a curious explorer who thrives on the opportunity to meet new people. The success of her day is measured not by specific results or achievements, but by how loving she has been with herself and others.
Robin de Levita
Robin de Levita is a man of multiple accomplishments. He is known for creating innovative theatrical performance systems called SceneAround and StageAround - two groundbreaking staging concepts that challenge the relationship between the performance and the audience. He is a recipient of numerous prestigious international awards, has produced three feature movies, line-produced over a hundred TV shows, and more than 80 high-profile theater productions across Europe and the US. Robin also produced the critically acclaimed ANNE – a new play based on The Diary of Anne Frank.

Sandra van Aalderen
Sandra van Aalderen’s work and research is focused on how attitudes, beliefs, and mindsets influence learning. She is striving for education that stimulates curiosity, motivation to learn, and higher-order thinking skills. A trained cognitive neuroscientist, she switched from fundamental brain research to educational research to bring education to this next level.
Sarah Woods
A decade ago, Sarah Woods had long blond hair, but then she lost all of her hair over a two year period to Alopecia. She spent the next 8 years reevaluating her identity and learning how to embrace her new state as a bald woman. Sarah MYP digital design technology teacher in Amsterdam. Between 2010-2014, she was the IT director and high school technology integration coach at Pechersk School International in Kiev, Ukraine. She is a member of the ECIS Technology, Innovation, and Design Committee and both a Google Certified Teacher and Trainer. She’s also a single mother, yoga teacher, and frequent traveller.
Valery Mak
Project FULL provides a cultural education to disadvantaged young people and enables them to achieve a qualification in the process. As such, FULL gives youngster the chance to develop their creative talents as well as their future. The project provides participants with several types of training, workshops and master classes presented by their peers and inspiring professionals. The aim of the project is to, over a period of three years, help at least 150 young people aged 18 to 23 to obtain a qualification. A diploma or certificate is the culmination of a personal development plan, which the participants co-create with a personal coach.
Yong Zhao
Dr Yong Zhao’s work focuses on the implications that globalization and technology have on education. He is convinced that teachers need to focus on developing children's strengths instead of trying to fix their deficiencies. Dr. Zhao is a world-renowned scholar, author and speaker. He has published over 100 articles and 20 books, has designed schools, founded research and development institutions to explore innovative education models, and is an elected fellow of the International Academy for Education, among his many accomplishments.
Yoram Mosenzon
As a nonviolent-communication trainer, Yoram Mosenzon aims to connect people to form true collaborations. To do this, he believes that people must first understand the difference between two kinds of honesty: one which tends to create distance, conflict and misunderstanding, and the other which creates connection and genuine compassion. Yoram’s images were created by Tamar Harel, a graphic facilitator who uses illustrations and images to navigate through processes of transformational change, that support moving toward a sustainable world.
