Shlok Paul
Our student speaker, Shlok Paul, is 17 years old and currently pursuing the International Baccalaureate Program. Inspired by the action of the ALM in his neighborhood, he volunteered to be a change maker in his community by working closely with NGOs like Haiyya (organize for change) and Awaaz Foundation (action against noise pollution.) He is currently building a unique initiative called ‘The Thal Project’ to help alleviate the financial issues and lack of awareness in India around Thalassemia - a genetic disorder where the individual lacks the ability to produce normal, adult hemoglobin.
Fueled by an urge to unlock the unknown and a passion to analyze tons of statistical data, he is looking at creating a more effective detection and screening of this deadly disorder.
