TEDxMICA shares the same passion as TED. Spreading Ideas. Our mission is to inspire minds and spark discussions and introspections among the people at large. We seek to invest in ideas and unravel a whole new world of possibilities. TEDxMICA is the first TEDx Event conducted by a Communication Management School in India. Theme: Sonder - A realization that each passerby is living a life in enigmatic terrains peppered with their own ambitions, routines, friends, worries and innate madness-a unique story of an anthill sprawling deep underground, or some passionate life treading through elaborate passageways leaving a faint mark as a blur of traffic on the highway, or as a lighted window at dusk.We’re here to realize and celebrate these untold stories which may otherwise be forgotten and lost in the complexity of the world.

Akshai Abraham

Founder of Project KHEL (Kids Holistic Education and Life-skills) Akshai is pursuing his dream of helping marginalized children reach their true potential with the aid of sports. Through his innovative foundation, he is imparting life skills to roughly 1000 such children in Lucknow.

Moji Riba

The 36-year-old-film-maker, Moji Riba, recipient of Rolex Awards for Enterprise, has been capturing the cultural richness of Arunachal Pradesh through his 35 documentaries for national television stations and for government and non-governmental organizations. He set up the Centre for Cultural Research & Documentation (CCRD) in 1997 in Itanagar with the sole aim to stretch the heritage (which he dubs as an elastic band) into the ‘future generations till it reaches the edges and snaps’, thus, increase the visibility of the isolated region and safeguard the heritage of the people of the Arunanchal Pradesh.

Nirali Kartik

Ahmedabad-born classical vocalist, and recipient of the Shrestha Sadhak award by Gujarat Sangeet Natak Kala Academy, Nirali Kartik, has performed at music festivals across India and in many countries in Europe. Kartik has been training in music since the past 15 years and has collaborated with many world music artists. She is also the lead vocalist in her band called ‘Maati Baani’.

Piyush Mishra

Actor, music director, lyricist, singer, scriptwriter. Mishra started his career in Hindi theatre in Delhi after graduating from National School of Drama, Delhi in 1986. He is acclaimed for his acting in Maqbool (2003) and Gangs of Wasseypur (2012). As a film lyricist and singer, he is noted for his songs “Arre Ruk Ja Re Bandeh” (Black Friday, 2004), “Aarambh Hai Prachand” (Gulaal, 2009), “Ik Bagal” (Gangs of Wasseypur – Part 2, 2012), and “Husna” (MTV Coke Studio, 2012)

Rishaad Saam Mehta

Travel writer, Photographer and all-round road-trip junkie. With his book ‘Hot Tea Across India’, he takes us through the length and breadth of the country with interesting incidents and stories with the experience of drinking Tea as the linking factor. He touches a multitude of turfs right from Manali to Munnar, from the Rann of Kutch to Khajuraho, enveloped with his wit, thoughtfulness and understanding.

Sarbani Das Roy

A process worker and psychotherapist, Sarbani Das has been a consultant to Corporate Sector as well as NGO sector since 1999. Sarbani is the Honorary Secretary of Ishwar Sankalpa, Kolkata. She has been actively involved in raising awareness on mental health by taking care of mentally ill individuals who have lost touch with their family.
