Spark!

Every invention, innovation, enterprise and world changing movement begins with a spark. It’s a nudge in the mind that asks “What if?” It’s the clarity that precedes action. Sparks are powerful and fragile. They need a response in order to grow into flame. We want to celebrate the sparks that are catching fire in our region and initiate the next sparks to change our world.

Ken Brown is a guitar performer, composer and instructor. He began studying classical guitar at age ten and now teaches and performs with a wide variety of today's leading artists. His film scores have been featured in film scores, advertising, and modern dance performances.

Laura has been active in animal rescue since 2001 and works with the national Canine Rescue Foundation. While a passionate volunteer in animal rescue activities, she is a radio iicensing and syndication professional with Dick Broadcasting.

Naeemah Clark

Naeemah is a media and entertainment industry specialist and Associate Professor of Communications at Elon University. She blogs and comments on the portrayal of Black women in the media.

Omar Hamid Ali

Ali is a historian with a brad set of teaching research interests in areas of diversity and culture. He is Associate Professor of African American Studies and Dean of the Lloyd International Honors College at UNC Greensboro.

Sabrina Woods

Woods is the owner of Fitness 1 Studios and Triad Aerial Arts. A fitness professional with more than twenty years experience, she also performs and choreographs dance arts that use Aerial Silks, Lyra, Trapeze, Pole, and Acrobatic Yoga.

Scott Silknitter

Scott is an entrepreneur and CEO of ROS Therapy Systems. He developed his company to provide products and services to families and caregivers for individuals with cognitive and physical issues such as dementia and Parkinson's.

Sean Aggarwal

Aggarwal is an entrepreneur and angel investor located in Silicon Valley. Previously CFO at Trulia, he has worked in tandem with entrepreneurs in the growth and development of EBay, Pay Pal, and Amazon. He led Trulia's IPO and subsequent merger with Zillow.

Taylor Mabe

Taylor is a doctoral student in the NC A&T/UNC Greensboro Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering in Greensboro NC. His interests are in the delivery of medicines through nano-particles to increase medication effectiveness and reduce side effects.
