In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Eva Miele & Marcus Donnelly

Eva Miele and Marcus Donnelly are both juniors at Cape Elizabeth High School. Eva has been singing since she can remember and got serious about her talent when she joined “Musica de Filia” in the second grade. If you’ve ever walked the halls of CEHS, you’ve heard Eva. She tested her middle school teachers with incessant humming and singing. Marcus started playing guitar six years ago, and his favorite song to play is “Going to California” by Led Zeppelin. The two joined forces freshman year and have been recording songs for Eva’s Soundcloud account ever since.

Kate Breed

Kate Breed is a junior at Cape Elizabeth High School, where she participates in varsity soccer and basketball. She has three older brothers, and her favorite activities are traveling and exploring new places. Kate is someone you probably remember from our middle school talent show when she improvised for the entire three minutes and thirty-eight seconds of Chris Brown’s “Freeze.” She started dancing when she was in elementary school, studied at Casco Bay Movers during middle school, and is still dancing today. She’s not shy about admitting to dancing alone in her bedroom and performed some spectacular solos in the locker room before CEGS soccer games this Fall.

Kate Hansen

Kate Hansen is a junior at Cape Elizabeth High School. She has grown up with a love for writing, and won the 2014 Scholastic American Voices Award for Maine. She will read almost anything that is offered to her, except science textbooks. Besides writing and reading, Kate has been playing violin in orchestras since she was eleven years old. Kate will read what she calls a “lighthearted essay describing the relationship between the first and second violin sections of an orchestra.”
