In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Aaron Maniam

Aaron Maniam is a Singapore government official, having served in his country's Foreign Service, the Prime Minister's Office Centre for Strategic Futures and the Institute for Public Sector Leadership at the Civil Service College. Maniam was the founding Chairman of the National Youth Council Academy's Advisory Panel, served as President of Mendaki Club, a group of young Muslim professionals, and was Chairman of the Singapore Indian Development Association (SINDA) Youth Club. He is an adjunct faculty member of both the National University of Singapore's Scholars' Programme and the Singapore Management University School of Social Sciences. Maniam is an award-winning poet, trained facilitator of interfaith dialogue, active volunteer in international schools debating circles and a board member of various social enterprises in Singapore. In 2013-2014, he will be one of 60 Masters of Public Policy students at Oxford University's Blavatnik School of Government.

Abhisvara Sinha

Abhisvara Sinha was a student speaker at UWC South East Asia, now having graduated. She is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in History and Politics at the University of Oxford.

Akshay Smit

At the time a student speaker at UWCSEA, Akshay is deeply passionate about mathematics and history.

Ayesha Khanna

Ayesha Khanna is an education, technology and urbanization expert with over 15 years of experience at the leading edge of innovation from smart city development to brand strategy. Ayesha is the CEO and Co-Founder of The Keys Academy, an innovative enrichment hub whose unique model of "externships" with leading companies provides secondary school students the opportunity to apply their skills to critical 21st century industries.

David Munro

Managing Director of Graticule Asset Management Asia, David Munro explores macroeconomic strategy and analyses trends to better equip teams for long-term success. David is the chief executive officer CIB, SBG and SBSA. In 2003, he was appointed deputy chief executive officer of CIB, South Africa and in 2006 was appointed chief executive, CIB South Africa. Munro was selected by the World Economic Forum as a Global Young Leader in 2009. He was appointed global head, investment banking in 2009 and chief executive, global CIB in 2011. David served on the group executive committee from 2003 to 2011. In 2014, he was appointed director, Standard Bank London Holdings Limited.

Durreen Shahnaz

Durreen the 2014 recipient of the prestigious Joseph Wharton Social Impact award given by the Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania. She is a TED 2010 Fellow as well as an Asia Society 21 Fellow. She was an appointed member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Social Innovation for 2011 and is on the advisory board for CASE i3 at Duke’s Fuqua School of Business. Durreen is also the Social Entrepreneur in Residence for INSEAD’s Social Entrepreneurship Catalyst Program. Durreen is a TED speaker, a regular participant for Channel News Asia’s morning program News on Views and a contributor to World Economic Forum publications, South China Morning Post in Hong Kong, Wharton Magazine and ADB blog. Durreen has been recently appointed as a Program Advisor for the Clinton Global Initiative.

Johnson Chen

Mr Chen has more than 12 years of entrepreneurship experience with start-ups, being the co-founder of 2 start-up companies with successful exits. Mr Chen has also given talks on entrepreneurship in Hong Kong and the United States, including the Sloan School of Management at MIT. Mr Chen is an active angel investor and is a member of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park (HKSTP) incubator selection panel. He is also currently a member of the NRF POC grant panel.

Mahboob Mahmood

Mahboob is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Knowledge Platform. Established in 2000, Knowledge Platform is a leading Asian learning solutions company, with offices in Singapore, Tokyo, Delhi, Dubai and Islamabad. The company provides learning solutions for blue chip clients in the corporate, educational, financial services and governmental sectors.

Naila Segule

A student speaker and now alumnus of UWC South East Asia, Naila Segule is now on a gap year, preparing for university.

Ned Phillips

Ned Phillips is the director of Alt Ex Advisory, a consultancy company which specializes in solutions to the changing landscape of financial technology across Asia. Currently a Consultant to 8 Securities, he is Asia's first Robo Adviser, and an Adviser to Singapore FinTech Consortium, whose goal is to promote and develop Singapore as a leading FinTech hub. With the rise of FinTech across Asia and especially in Singapore, being part of these three companies keeps him at the forefront of FinTech, which he sees as completely changing the way we interact with our own finances.

Ray Dunn

Dr. Ray Dunn obtained his Ph.D. in Cell Biology in 1999 from Vanderbilt University under the supervision of Brigid Hogan, PhD FRS. In 2004, he joined ES Cell International Pte Ltd as a Research Scientist in the Diabetes Group, eventually being named Program Manager in 2005. In July 2007, he was appointed as a Principal Investigator in the Institute for Medical Biology and Singapore Stem Cell Consortium. He also holds an Adjunct Assistant Professor position at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine at Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

Samarth Chawla

A student speaker of UWC South East Asia at the time, Samarth Chawla is now an undergraduate student at Carnegie Melon University.
