In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Jen Hawes-Hewitt

Jen is a cities geek. A long-time strategy consultant, she is the founding member of the Global Cities practice within Accenture. She invests her time in understanding what makes cities tick and how new technologies, particularly big data and analytics, can help cities to overcome their many challenges, cultivate their digital economy and become vibrant and sustainable places to live, work and play. Jen works around the world, with leading cities on digital transformation topics. She has completed several digital city masterplans and collaborated on several projects with the Professor Ratti of MIT's Senseable Cities Lab. In 2011, she co-authored thought leadership entitled “Information Marketplaces: The New Economics of Cities”. She has supported the World Economic Forum’s, Future of Urban Development programme and the British Standards Institute’s development of a Smart

Mark Adams

Mark Adams - Founder and Director, theAudience UK The Guardian awarded Mark “Star of Tech City”. Mark launched theAudience with Sean Parker, co-founder of Facebook, the company has consulted with many of the most famous celebrities and powerful public figures on the planet such as Charlize Theron, Pharrell Williams and Barack Obama. It is now the largest social publishing network in the world.

Timothy Barnes

Director of Enterprise Operations at UCL and also Director of UCL Advances, Tim built UCL Advances into one of the largest such activities in Europe since it launched in 2007. In 2010, Tim started Citrus Saturday, a non-profit enterprise teaching entrepreneurship in schools that now runs in ten countries. He is currently a director of Capital Enterprise Ltd and UCL Consultants Ltd, and is Chairman of the National Consortium of University Entrepreneurs Ltd (NACUE). He graduated from UCL in 1997, is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and in 2014 was awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion for life.
