Andy Fillmore
Andy Fillmore, LPP, MCIP, Vice President of Planning and Development, Waterfront Development Corporation
Andy has been a city planner and urban designer in the private, public and academic sectors for 20+ years, and holds graduate degrees from Dalhousie and Harvard.
At the City of Halifax Andy led the HRMbyDesign project, and helped lead the Central Library project, Regional Plan, and HRM’s Economic Strategy. For this change-making work, Andy won a National Urban Leadership Award from the Canadian Urban Institute in 2012.
Subsequently Andy was Director of the Dalhousie School of Planning, and is now VP of the Waterfront Development Corporation, VP of the Council for Canadian Urbanism, and the federal Liberal candidate for the riding of Halifax.
Bette Watson-Borg
Bette Watson-Borg is the President
and Chief Executive Officer of The
YMCA of Greater Halifax/Dartmouth
and in 2000 assumed the position
of the first female President in
the 161 years of operation of the
local YMCA. Her current role
encompasses providing strategic
and operational leadership to a multi
service, charitable and community
based organization.
Cleve Sauer
Cleve Sauer holds a BA in
Psychology (York University), a
BSW (Dalhousie University) and
will graduate with an MSW from
Memorial University in the spring of
2015. As the alter-ego of Buddington
the therapeutic clown, Cleve
established the IWK Health Centre’s
therapeutic clown program in 2006.

Donovan Plumb
Donovan Plumb is a professor at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He has studied and taught in the field of adult and higher education for over thirty years. Dr. Plumb has a great interest in the nature of human learning and is especially interested in learning more about ways to support our adult capacities for “deep learning.” Currently, he is the Coordinator of the Teaching and Learning Center at MSVU and Editor-in-Chief of the Canadian Journal for the Study of Adult Education.
Janean Marshall
Janean is a parent, educator,
mentor, advocate, volunteer and
Student Services Consultant. She
has worked for over a decade in
First Nations communities and
has recently received her second
Masters Degree. Being both Italian
and Mi’kmaq Janean has chosen to
be an advocate for social justice and
inclusion for Mi’kmaq Schools.
Wanda Thomas Bernard
Dr. Wanda Thomas Bernard is a social
worker, educator, researcher, community
activist, advocate and mentor. Born in
East Preston, Nova Scotia, she was
one of the first three young people from
her community to attend university and
received a Bachelor of Arts degree from
Mount Saint Vincent University in 1975.
