Theme: The Power of Film

TEDxChiangMaiSalon events are smaller TEDxChiangMai events throughout the year between the main annual TEDxChiangMai events every September. Each TEDxChiangMai Salon will have a different theme. 1. Barbara Kidron, 13 mins - The Shared Wonder of film
Movies have the power to create a shared narrative experience and to shape memories and worldviews. British film director Beeban Kidron invokes iconic film scenes -- from Miracle in Milan to Boyz n the Hood -- as she shows how her group FILMCLUB shares great films with kids.

2. Jeffrey Skoll, 2007, 15 mins Making Movies that Matter
Film producer Jeff Skoll (An Inconvenient Truth) talks about his film company, Participant Productions, and the people who've inspired him to do good.

3. Jehane Noujaim, 2007, 25 mins Wishes for a global day of film
2006 TED Prize winner Jehane Noujaim is the gutsy filmmaker responsible for Control Room, an astonishing documentary about Al Jazeera's coverage of the Iraq war and the contrasting notions of truth expressed in the US media .
