A connection is a relationship between one or more things. It is the action of linking one, with another. It is when a person, thing, or idea is linked or associated with something else in any number of ways. It can be physical, emotional, abstract, romantic, smart or even illogical. Over the last decade humans have connected in unprecedented ways. With social media and online tools facilitating communication, we have seen these transform everyday activities like planning a night out to having huge societal impact like facilitating entire revolutions. Science has also advanced the way we understand connections with the world and with other people, but also within ourselves and our nature and origins. It has answered old questions about where we come from as a people and a species, opened new questions as to why and how different parts of our bodies communicate, and elucidated what we are in our shared DNA with other species. In a time where people are ever more able to connect with each other and yet more are alienating themselves and others, we are in need of an exploration of all these changes.
