In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Jason Kilderry

Jason found his passion for athletics, health, and fitness at an early age. Throughout his childhood, Jason’s athletic career revolved around basketball and baseball. When he reached high school, Jason decided he would one day like to enlist in the military, which led him to focus on his increasing his overall health and fitness on a regular basis. Inevitably, his enrollment in the military did not occur. But all the training he had done in preparation for the military left Jason in the best shape of his life, and that is when he truly realized his passion for health, fitness, and endurance sports. Jason started pursing a career in the health and fitness field at a local community college, and then transferred to Rowan University, where he also ran cross-country. Juggling academics, athletics, and a part-time job as a personal trainer was difficult, but it allowed Jason to realize that balancing all aspects of life is a challenge most health and fitness enthusiasts face

Kenneth Lacovara

Kenneth Lacovara is widely recognized for his discovery of the behemoth plant-eating dinosaur Dreadnoughtus schrani. To bring this giant to light, Lacovara led five expeditions to a remote corner of Patagonia, returning with over 16 tons of fossils. In life, Dreadnoughtus stretched 85-feet long, stood two and a half stories at the shoulder, and weighed more than 65 tons, which is more than nine T. rex, more than a dozen African elephants, even more than a Boeing 373. Lacovara is applying the latest technology to the study of huge dinosaurs, including 3D laser scanning, CT scanning, 3D printing, robotics, and techniques from medical modeling and molecular biology. His work is helping to shift our perspective of these giant herbivores from their historic portrayal as dim-witted, swamp-bound platters of meat waiting to be preyed upon to that of fearsome, hulking, hyper-efficient eating machines, whose evolutionary innovations deserve our awe and respect.
