You are cordially invited to the next TEDxTheHague salon! Our Valentine's edition — themed Art of Love, Love of Art — is hosted by painting artist Jos van der Berg at his studio.
As art is said to bring our minds to a higher level, the same is said of love. So be charmed, let your fancy dally in a field of daisies. Let’s speak of taste. Bad taste, exuberant vases. Or perhaps we touch upon the way art shows deeper layers.
Jos will show us his art and talk about the choices he makes as a painter. In the three videos we will take you from the lighthearted dance of falling in love, to the surprising charm of exuberant vases, and up to classical music aiming for your heart:
A romantic flashmob
Ryan Seacrest and his mom Connie sit down to eat lunch in Santa Monica, CA when they're ambushed by a flash mob of dancing couples.
Luke Syson: How I learned to stop worrying and love "useless" art (TEDxMet)
Syson, curator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, fell in love with a perfectly horrible vase. About the joy of fantasy and escapism in our daily life.
Benjamin Zander: The transformative power of classical music
Zander, leading interpreter of Mahler and Beethoven, says we all love classical music — we just don’t know yet. How the high art of classical music descends from the mind straight to the heart of 1600 people in a TED.com audience — and ends up in his buttocks
RSVP if you want to attend
We hope this theme will resonate with you, awaken your curiosity and make you decide to attend TEDxTheHague. To stimulate conversation, we admit up to 20 guests. If you want to be put on our final guest list, please RSVP. First-come, first-served!
Also, please bring and share your most cheesy snacks and drinks, beloved distasteful objects or guilty pleasures — (love) songs you secretly love. Neil Diamond and André Hazes are tolerated, for once.
We look forward to a stimulating evening filled with spirited conversation and new discoveries.
Don't miss it, till TEDx!
