The moderator, Jay Goth, works closely with the regional economic development groups to foster and grow local innovation. As a senior consultant with TriTech Small Business Development Center, Jay has talked with hundreds of entrepreneurs who are seeking to make change through business. He himself is a serial entrepreneur, having launched several businesses of his own. He has been involved in the restaurant industry, drilled oil wells, built houses, went to sea as a merchant marine, sold real estate, was in the life and health insurance industry, has most recently been an investment banker, and is now launching a new start-up of his own.
Having lived the life of an entrepreneur for over thirty years, Jay can identify with many of the people who are innovating and trying to make the world a better place. This is sure to be an engaging and controversial conversation about what government should or should not be doing to foster innovation, how education can spur greater achievements, and about business’ role in fomenting social change. The Ted talks selected for commentary address these problems in ways that will make you re-think some of your opinions about innovation and how it can happen here in the Temecula Valley.
