Indigenous trailblazer

Michael Mieni, a proud Ngemba, Wangkumara and Barkindji man, is the first-ever Indigenous IT honours student at the University of Technology Sydney, and he’d like to make sure he is the first of many. He enjoys facilitating and volunteering for university outreach programs such as Galuwa, Nanga Mai and works with the Magic Moments Foundation as the Sydney Grandies Coordinator. Since joining Westpac, Mieni has worked as a Technical Business Analyst as well as the Communications Manager for Brothers & Sisters, the Indigenous employee action group. He envisions a connected, united future for Australia, utilizing technology that will provide more opportunities for all of its people.

About TED Institute
