لقد سمعنا الكثير من الخطابة في الآونة الأخيرة مما يوحي بان البُلدان مثل الولايات المتحدة تَخسر وظائف التصنيع لأسواق أقل تكلفة مثل الصين والمكسيك وفيتنام وهذا يعني أن الحمائية (سياسة الحماية الجمركية) هي أفضل وسيلة للمضي قُدماً. ولكن لم تختفي تلك الوظائف للأسباب التي ربما تفكر بها. فيقول أخصائي الحدود والخدمات اللوجستية: أنه يقدم لنا فحصاً حقيقياً حول ما تبدو عليه التجارة العالمية، وكيف تساعدنا الحماية المشتركة والحدود المطلقة علي تقديم منتجات ذات جودة أعلي بتكاليفٌ أفل.

If you're American, call your senators and representatives and let them know your opinion about trade. Currently, NAFTA is being renegotiated. In my talk, I show that automation is responsible for lost US manufacturing jobs, not NAFTA. NAFTA is, however, responsible for the efficient trade between our North American neighbors, enabling shared production processes which helps keep consumer prices down. But whatever your opinion, take the time to make it known to your elected representatives.
