ED Event

ED events are TEDx events where educators, students, administrators and others gather to discuss the future of education.

About this event type

ED events give people in educational communities an opportunity to spark discussion on the future of education, and share those ideas with the global community. These TEDx events are not the same as university events, which have more wide-ranging content, but are events that are focused on ideas, creativity and innovation specifically on the topic of education.

All standard TEDx rules apply to an ED event license.

The following also applies to ED events:

Naming your event

The naming convention for an ED event is the name of your community followed by “ED” (e.g., “TEDxPhiladelphia ED”).

Audience

Your audience should be from the area or community where you’re holding your ED event. We recommend that organizers carefully curate their audience, and select a group of people who can contribute meaningfully to the conversation. (Especially for an event with a specific topic of focus, like education.)

Size

Like standard TEDx events, ED events can have up to 100 guests. Only individuals who have attended a qualifying TED conference can organize an event with more than 100 attendees.

Theme

Your theme should be related to the topic of education, or the future of education. If you have speakers, you’ll want to feature a diversity of people from across several disciplines, and speaking to a variety of issues on the topic of education. Your speakers should also be from the local community you’re serving.

Duration

Like standard TEDx events, your ED event can be as brief as a couple of hours, and as long as one full day.

Pricing

The ticket price you may charge to cover event expenses depends on your Licensing Tier. Events organized by a Community tier licensee may charge up to $150 USD per ticket.
